Our Work
Online Training and Student Engagement
As part of the research objectives, an online training programme was conducted to educate and raise awareness among South African university students about the key concepts and terminologies related to Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV). This initiative created a vital bridge between the research process and the participants, ensuring that students were not only informed but actively engaged in the conversation.
The training also served as a knowledge-sharing platform, enabling participants to translate the content they learned into relatable, peer-focused projects. Within their respective campuses, students initiated discussions, shared experiences, challenged misconceptions, and built new networks of support and friendship.
Through this process, participants were equipped with essential knowledge on TFGBV while
also being empowered to shape meaningful interventions within their own university spaces.
Most importantly, the training provided students with a platform to make their voices heard in
addressing and mitigating TFGBV.
Today, these students are recognised as TFGBV Campus Ambassadors. In this role, they are
prepared to be both advocates and sources of support in the fight against TFGBV across
South African universities.
The graduation ceremony was held at the IIEMSA Campus on Friday, 15 August 2025
