The online TFGBV training of university students took place between the 30th of June and the 8th of August 2025. Two major campuses took part in the training: the IIEMSA Campus and the Wits University Main Campus.

As part of the requirements for completion and to be conferred the status of Campus Ambassadors against TFGBV, the students initiated campus based projects and executed them as campus events.

These projects were:

  • Toss & Talk: An Interactive Campus Activation on Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV). Through games and discussions, the students enlightened their peers about TFGBV.
  • TFGBV Discussion forum on Digital Dangers:: Wits University campus presented a discussion forum titled ‘Confronting Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence in South Africa’. Through frank discussions, the Wits University students highlighted pertinent issues surrounding TFGBV.
  • Unmute: a campus event coordinated by students of the IIEMSA Campus. The event aimed at educating and creating awareness of TFGBV by encouraging students to speak out against acts of violence perpetuated through social media platforms.
  • Digital consent is real consent: An awareness event coordinated by Wits University students. The event aimed to create awareness on the importance of online consent as a right. Using art, participants of a sip and paint session were encouraged to use art to express their understanding of TFGBV.
